STUMBLING BLOCKS AND SPRINGBOARDS: Working Together for Forgiveness and Reconciliation

CONFERENCE 2021

STUMBLING BLOCKS AND SPRINGBOARDS: Working Together for Forgiveness and Reconciliation

A Virtual Event hosted on Zoom

You are invited to participate in a unique ecumenical event that will bring together theologians, church leaders and members from different countries and contexts. Because of serious concerns about the continuing spread of COVID-19 in many countries, the Anglican-Lutheran Society cancelled a conference that was to take place in Rome in October 2020. Instead, a virtual conference will explore the achievements and outstanding issues on the road to unity, featuring in particular the bi-lateral relationships between the Roman Catholic Church and the Anglican and Lutheran Churches.

A PILGRIMAGE TOWARDS HOPE

Conference 2022

A PILGRIMAGE TOWARDS HOPE

Trondheim, Norway

Our conference will take place from Monday 25th – Friday 30th July, 2022, with the option of arriving on the Sunday before and staying on to the Sunday after. The Trondheim International Festival of St Olaf is focused around Nidaros Cathedral in the heart of the city. It is anchored in the thousand-year-old tradition of St Olaf’s Day, 29th July, and provides a forum for, amongst many other things, reflection on the relationship between faith and society.

WITNESS THROUGH SERVICE AND SACRIFICE : Martyrdom in the Church Today

All Hallows-by-the-Tower, London

We were delighted that the topic for the 2020 Annual Meeting which had to be cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic was able to be rescheduled in 2021. On 6th March it became our very first 'virtual' Annual Meeting hosted on Zoom.

International Conference 2020

STUMBLING BLOCKS AND SPRINGBOARDS

Rome, 19th-23rd October, 2020

Sadly, this conference has had to be cancelled. But there may well be a virtual conference in late spring 2021 when participants can discuss the ways in which Lutherans and Anglicans have been engaged in separate conversations with the Roman Catholic Church. Hopefully we shall be able to hear from representatives of the three Church Traditions what has been achieved and what obstacles still stand in the way of Church Unity. Details of this virtual conference will appear as soon as possible.

COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Prayer and Sensible Behaviour Required

All around the World

Pandemics of this kind are nothing new. Back in 1527, Wittenberg in Germany was struck by Plague. Martin Luther took a stand then which is very like the stand being urged on us by Churches and Governments today.
